Admission
Admission Processes
Pupils may enter Crown Hope International Academy at ages of 3,6, 7 and 12, although places may arise from time to time in other age groups. Competition for place is stiff, and we are naturally anxious to take the children whose parents understand and sympathise with our aims, aspirations and are willing to give their support and involvement in the school family life.
Admission Procedure
When a parent desires admission for his/her child to the school, these procedures are followed:
1. Application is submitted to the school, having read through the prospectus or online information.
2. An entrance test/academic diagnostic assessment is taken to determine a child’s attainment level and ability in curriculum, depending on the age group. This entrance test is not applicable to the nursery department.
3. A child’s class grade is determined, based on pre-admission or post-admission diagnostic assessment results. A pre-admission interview is mandatory for all the departments to support the aims, aspirations and Christian ethos of Crown Hope International Academy.
DISCIPLINE POLICY
Crown Hope International Academy does not use corporal punishment as a disciplinary measure.
Discipline is what you do for a child, not what you do for a child. From time to time children need direction and discipline. By nature every child rebels against parental and school controls that suppress their excessive passion, self-will and foolishness. Unchecked by direction and discipline, these desires lead to a life of pleasurable behaviour, but not productive achievement.
CHIA’s purpose of behavioural management or discipline is to bring the children up in the instruction of the Lord so that they may live fulfilled lives in accordance with Eph.6:3-4 and Pro.22:6.
We are also seeking that children become self-disciplined within a framework of love and security. This will enable our children to foster care and value for each other, self-respect, integrity and a heart for God’s word.
Merit and Demerit System
Rewarding achievement and virtues is a sound principle and encourages children to press on to greater achievement and character traits. We award privileges according to scale of industry, good behaviour, academic attainment and charity.
CHIA disciplinary policy is effective through the system of reasoning, praise and demerit. All forms of sanctions are recorded and signed by parents and staff.
SUSPENSION/EXPULSION
Parents are notified when there is a suspension. In the event of an expulsion being implemented, the school and parent would have exhausted all tenable avenues of resolve.
The Head of school, with the management board, reserves the right, depending on previous events, to require the removal of a child, if in their opinion this would be in the interest of the child or the school.
NOTICE
A full term’s notice is required in the event of withdrawal. This notice must be given in writing, and must be received before the first day of term to which it refers. If such notice is not given, then a term’s fee must be paid in lieu of such notice.
The board of directors reserve the right to increase fees without notice, though every effort is made to give at least one term’s notice. Fees are not refundable where there has been an acceptance or commencement of lessons. Parents are responsible for tuition payments even when children are not in attendance due to family engagement or illness.
REGISTRATION
A registration fee is required with each registration form when submitted to the school office. Please note that registration is non-refundable and does not guarantee a place for your child. Should you defer your child’s offer and then decide at a later date to pursue a place, further registration fee will be required, as this cannot be carried over.
School Uniform
It is compulsory that full school uniform be worn at all times. Our concern is for a good standard of dressing, and we expect boys and girls not only to keep with the range of garments laid down in the list, but also to wear them sensibly.
The uniform provides a framework, but our objective of high standards is not achieved if the uniform is worn carelessly, untidily or inappropriately. It is our hope that pupils will be proud to belong to CHIA, and this will be seen in the way in which they wear the Crown Hope International Academy uniform. Students must conform to the dress code and appearance regulations at all times of the day, when travelling to and from school, and on all special occasions.
Any student who does not conform to the full school uniform standard will be excluded from his/her class and parents will be asked to pick the child from the reception office for the day.
Payments
Parents should note that fees are payable in advance on or before the first day of each term / statutory dates of each month. The management reserves the right to charge on late payment and deferred payments. All payments are made by standing order and bank transfer.
